Childcare

Research shows that when children with disability are given the opportunity to participate in mainstream early childhood education, they will have better educational, social and developmental outcomes later in life. We believe that every child has the right to participate in mainstream early education, this includes childcare, early learning centres, outside school hours care, vacation care, kindergarten, family day care and in-home care. This is challenging for children requiring high intensity daily support but we are here to help.

You can request NDIS funding to support your child to attend mainstream childcare. Or we can help you to request funding from the NDIA. We'll work with you to identify the daily support that your child needs and how this can be provided in a childcare setting and we can work with your chosen childcare provider.

Meet Skye

In 2019, 4 year old Skye pioneered an inclusive early childhood education program developed by Xavier in partnership with Catholic Early EdCare. Skye has a rare genetic disorder and high support needs. Skye’s parents' wish for her was that she attended mainstream childcare alongside her peers. With one-on-one support from a Xavier Support Worker, this wish became a reality and Skye was able to participate in St. Cecelia’s kindergarten program.
