We’re excited to launch Art Therapy to further support children and young people as part of our allied health services. At Xavier, our Art Therapist works with our occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists and music therapists to obtain an understanding of your child’s disability and abilities, to provide the safest and most beneficial treatment process for your child or young person.
What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a mental health and wellbeing approach that integrates psychotherapeutic techniques with creativity to improve physical, cognitive and emotional health. Best of all, it’s a lot of fun! Art therapy is not an art class. In art therapy, we focus on the creative process not the finished product. Art therapy explores drawing, painting, sculpting, sensory investigation and many other creative formats that give our children and young people an opportunity for creative expression.
