Support Worker Ashlee has been part of the Xavier team supporting children and young people for 3 years. We sat down for a Q&A with Ashlee to find out what she loves about her work, what inspires her and more.

Q1: How long have you been a Support Worker with Xavier?

I have been with Xavier for about three years now.

Q2: Do you support Xavier children and young people in a specific setting?

No, I support children and young people in a variety of settings, including home community and at Xavier Place.

Q3: What types of care and supports do you provide?

I provide different kinds of support. Some include personal care and social support.

Q4: What inspires and energises you?

All the smiles and interaction I have with our children and young people!

Q5: Did you always want to work with children with disability?

No, I came across the opportunity to work with children with disability while working in aged care and fell in love with the job. I haven’t looked back!

Q6: What might a typical workday look like for you?

Most often than not, I will pick the child or young person I’m supporting from their home, take them to a day activity like hydro, sports group or something fun like bingo or movies! We get to do lots of fun stuff! I recently supported Oman on a trip to SeaWorld with his brother.

Q7: What do you love most about your job?

The thing I most love about my job is watching my participants have fun and seeing their personal growth.

Q8: What are your passions outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy going out with friends for lunch and doing activities and also going to the gym.
