Xavier is dedicated to supporting children and young people with complex disability on their journey toward living their best lives. Our multidisciplinary approach includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and even music therapy. Our allied health team work together where appropriate and closely with families to help our children and young people
For the last 70 years, we’ve not only been supporting children who live with disabilities, but also their families and carers. Based in Brisbane, we have allied health clinics located in the following suburbs:
Our allied health team are also happy to support your child in your home which offers several advantages. Here are just a few of the ways in-home therapy suit your child and your family.
1. No Travel
Travelling with children with complex needs can be challenging. In-home therapy sessions are convenient with saving you the hassle of travel.
2. It’s Effective…
Parents and carers often report that the therapy provided during an in-home visit is very effective because children feel relaxed in their own home environment. The only way to know if that’s the case for your child is to give it a try.
3. And More Convenient!
Even if you and your child are comfortable making the trip to one of our clinics, it may be more convenient for us to come to you. Less for you to do means less stress, and potentially an easier experience for you and your child.
4. A More Comfortable Environment…
Your home is probably where your child feels most comfortable out of anywhere in the world. Supporting them with in-home therapy means they’re in a place that makes them feel safe, and helps them engage with the therapy that our team provides.
5. And a More Familiar One Too!
The familiarity of the home environment has more advantages. During an in-home visit our team are able to include the tools that you and your child already use to manage their disability. Whether it’s toys, communication aids, musical instruments, or anything else around the house, if your child already uses these then including it in their therapy is going to boost its effectiveness.
6. Helping Friends, Family, and Carers
We don’t just include the space of the home, we also include the people. Family, carers, and everyone else who already helps play a role in supporting your child’s development can be a part of what we do. We will support you with training and techniques which you can do with your child when we’re not there.
