Therapy can support children with a disability in so many ways. At Xavier, we’ve expanded our therapy team into the Ipswich area so that we’re able to help more children and their families to live better lives. Here are some of the ways that our multi-disciplinary allied health team can support your child with a disability through therapy sessions at home, in the Ipswich community or via telehealth.
Everyday activities – our Occupational Therapists will work with your child to support them to become more independent and participate in everyday life with more confidence and comfort. Some of the daily activities we can work with you and your child on include dressing, toileting, mealtimes, transitions and routines as well as lots of play, having fun and just being a kid!
Communication – our experienced paediatric Speech Pathologists support children to communicate verbally and non-verbally. Our team passionately believe that every child should have a voice and the right support to express their needs, wants, thoughts and emotions, to socialise, make friends and participate in family activities.
Movement – our physiotherapy team will work with your child to improve movement and to maintain or develop strength, flexibility and posture. Every child should have the opportunity to take part in the physical aspects of everyday life, to the best of their ability.
Independence – it is the goal of our Ipswich allied health team to work together and with you to promote your child’s independence through assessment and individualised treatment programs. This means supporting your child with everyday activities, communication, movement, mobility equipment and more so that they can live the best life possible.
