In June 2020, we will welcome our newest Speech Pathologist, supporting children, teens and young adults with a disability. Our new “Speechie” will be based in the Ipswich area, enabling us to better support more children with a disability and their families through speech therapy.
According to Speech Pathology Australia, the role of a Speech Pathologist is to “study, diagnose and treat communication disorders, including difficulties with speaking, listening, understanding language, reading, writing, social skills, stuttering and using voice.” Individuals who have difficulty with swallowing can also be helped by a Speech Pathologist.
Speech Therapy can support children who experience challenges with communication because of development delays, brain injuries, learning disability, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy and hearing loss, as well as other problems that can affect speech and language.
Our Ipswich based Speech Pathologist can support children with a disability to meet a range of therapy goals including:
Speech therapy sessions can be funded through your child’s NDIS plan, Medicare, private health insurance or private funding.
