Bec joined the Xavier Place team as our Housekeeper in June. Fast forward a few short months and we don’t know how we ever managed without her! While Bec’s title is ‘Housekeeper’ her role is so much more! Bec is a master organiser, ideas woman, cook, cleaner, activity coordinator, ambience creator and a warm welcome for all of our guests and staff. We sat down for a chat with Bec over a nice cup of tea.
Q: Can you tell us more about your role at Xavier Place?
A: I love that my role at Xavier Place is so multifaceted. I do spend quite a lot of time around the house cleaning, tidying and organising but you’ll also see me outdoors setting up play areas or comfy spaces for staff and guests to relax in. Often, I’m in the kitchen preparing morning teas or making coffees. You’ll even spot me setting up themed activities for our guests, crafts or sensory play for everyone to enjoy. I had so much fun creating a Halloween dress-up station for our guests and community clients to enjoy and seeing the joy that it brought.
Q: What do you love about your role?
A: The sense of achievement! It’s my job to ensure that everyone who walks through the door at Xavier Place feels welcomed, at home and has a clean, tidy, organised and safe space to stay and work in. And I love it!
Q: What energises and inspires you?
A: I have worked in the disability sector for many years and I’m passionate about communication, social interaction, inclusion and mental health. I value organisation at home and in the workplace. Everyone deserves a clean, tidy and organised environment, especially those who are unable to attain this for themselves. I am lucky enough to be in a role at Xavier Place that allows me to combine my interests, passions and values and use them in a way that is beneficial to those around me. As far as inspiration goes, the Xavier Place team will confirm that I’m a bit of a Temu fan!
Q: Do you have a message for your team?
A: I have been so warmly welcomed into the Xavier community and am constantly being thanked for what I do, which is completely unnecessary but truly appreciated.
