Meet Marcus

For those of you who follow our socials, you may already recognise Marcus’ smiling face! Marcus is 21 years old and has been supported by the Xavier team since he was a baby.

Marcus is a fun-loving adventurer! He loves to be out in the community, catching public transport, going to theme parks, to the movies, bowling and playing in the arcade. Marcus also loves hanging out with his brother Genghis and his mum Muhini, going fishing or to the markets.

Marcus is diagnosed with Beare-Stevenson syndrome. Marcus needs help with transfers, transport, personal care, administering medication and attaching feeds to his peg. Marcus also has a tracheostomy and overnight he has a BiPap machine which needs to be managed.

Marcus is a regular guest at Xavier Place where our staff receive training and ongoing monitoring from our nurses to safely support Marcus. Marcus also gets out and about during support shifts with his Support Worker Megan.

Marcus’ mum Muhini says that the support Xavier provides means that Marcus can do more of the things that he loves out in the community, hang out with friends at Xavier Place and have new experiences.

For Marcus’ family, when they go out together, having a Support Worker with them, means that the whole family can enjoy the outing and quality family time.

“Thank you to the Xavier team. Marcus and our family appreciate everything you guys do. Marcus loves being supported by Xavier.”
