Supporting Queensland’s Carers

Throughout Australia, there are 3 million people, that’s 1 in 8 Australians, providing unpaid care for a family member or friend.

Each carer will have their own unique experience caring for their loved one and often that comes with highs and lows, big emotions and bucket-loads of love. Being a full-time carer has its challenges.

Results of the 2023 Carer Wellbeing Survey highlighted that carers continue to be at high risk of poor wellbeing and health. Of the 5,881 Australian carers surveyed, 58.3% reported low wellbeing, a significant increase from 52.6% in 2022.

There are organisations that you can turn to for support, information and connection.

Carer’s Queensland

Our friends at Carers Queensland, a not-for-profit organisation, exist to provide community, support, resources and to give a voice to the 622,200 carers in Queensland.

They provide hands-on support through their regional offices across Queensland, working in close collaboration with carers, other state and territory Carers Associations and strategic partners.

Throughout the year, Carers Queensland run an extensive program of NDIS and carer events both virtually and in person. Their events provide a unique opportunity for carers to connect and learn about topics to support you on your journey. From social catch-ups and group activities such as mindful walks to practical workshops, local community events and mental health support.

Check the Carers Queensland event page for further information.
