We’ve rounded up the best podcasts of 2023 focused on parenting children with additional needs, the NDIS and more. These podcasts provide support, advice, a different perspective, some laughs (and some tears) to inspire your 2024 podcast listening.
Too Peas in a Podcast
Hosts Mandy and Kate became friends when they each had twins with disabilities and additional needs. Recognising that few people were talking about the experience of parenting multiple children with disabilities, they started Too Peas in a Podcast.
Together they laugh (a lot) and cry as they chat to each other and friends about parenting multiplies with disabilities and additional needs. In 2021, both Kate and Mandy were VIC Australian of the Year Joint Finalists.
The Secret Life of Carers
From Carers Australia and hosted by best-selling author Jamila Rizvi, this series highlights the unique experiences of Australia’s 2.65 million unpaid carers. Hear stories from everyday people reflecting on their role as a carer, those that they support, and the services they access.
A podcast series that asks parents how they get the best NDIS plan and appropriate funding for their child. Host Melainie Dimmitt, author of Special: Anridites to the Obsessions that Come with a Child’s Disability, chats candidly with fellow parents and professionals in the disability space to gather stories, tips and tools to successfully navigate the NDIS.
Hosted by parent activist, author and speaker Debbie Reber, TiLT features interviews and conversations with parenting experts, educators and other parents to inspire, support and inform parents of children with differently wired kids. It aims to help parents feel empowered, confident and in control of how they parent.
