Logan Based Physiotherapy for Children Living with Disability

Xavier supports children living with disabilities through our multidisciplinary approach to therapy. Families from Logan and all over Brisbane have benefited from our services, including Physiotherapy.

Our Physiotherapists are all university qualified and highly devoted toward helping children who live with disability improve their physical health, fitness, and development. Through assessments, diagnosis, and tailored exercises, the team at Xavier can help your child live a happier, healthier life.

How can Physiotherapy help your child?

Physiotherapy helps children who live with disability address aspects of their physicality impacted by their disability. This includes issues which cause pain or limit mobility. Through a range of treatment programs Xavier can help your child in the following ways:

  • Advising on home modifications and mobility equipment
  • Providing a routine of exercises and activities to help your child create and maintain good physical habits
  • Hydrotherapy where available
  • Improving balance to reduce falls
  • Improving your child’s posture and spine health
  • Fine and gross motor skills for crawling, walking, sitting, standing, and coordination
  • Regulating, managing, and where possible, eliminating pain
  • Helping your child learn skills for play, leading to more fun and enjoyment of life
  • Creating an interest in physical activities such as group sports, leading to increased social engagements and helping them make new friends
  • Recovery and rehabilitation from physical injuries
  • Providing respiratory support
  • Helping your child strengthen their physicality and mobility
  • Tailoring exercise programs to your child’s specific needs
  • Helping your child feel more confident and self-sufficient

Funding Physiotherapy Through the NDIS

Xavier’s Physiotherapy services can be funded through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). In order to receive funding Physiotherapy must be considered either reasonable or necessary for supporting your child. Reasonable refers to activities which all people should be able to fairly access. Necessary means that an activity is absolutely needed to support your child with their disability. If the disability your child lives with creates challenges to their physical development or health, then it is likely Physiotherapy meets these criteria.

Whether you’ve applied to the NDIS before and your child is an existing participant, or if this is your very first time seeking funding for your child’s Physiotherapy, Xavier can help you with this too. Hand in hand with our sister organisation InFocus, Xavier has been helping the families of children living with disability navigate the ins and outs of the NDIS since it first began. Our commitment to helping children who live with disability begins before you even step in the door and lasts every step of your child’s journey.
