Kids Disability support Brisbane: Developing your first NDIS plan

As a registered NDIS providers in Brisbane the team at InFocus are already working with families to help them plan and prepare for their first NDIS Planning Meeting. We’ve been providing complex disability support for children in Brisbane since 1951. With the roll out of the NDIS, the way that we provide support will change and we’re working with our families to guide them through. Starting with your child’s first plan.

Your child’s first plan is the start of their NDIS journey. It will be unique to your child and the supports that they need. The plan will provide funding for supports that the NDIA deem “reasonable and necessary”.

The first planning meeting may appear daunting but we believe that as NDIS Service Providers in Brisbane, it is our role to help our families be as prepared as possible. We’re here to provide family support for children with complex disabilities in Brisbane and the greater Brisbane area and to assist with your child’s transition to the NDIS.

There are a number of ways that you can get prepared for your first planning meeting to help your child get the supports that they need. Here are 5 tips from the team at InFocus:

  1. Understand what an NDIS Plan looks like – ask your Brisbane children’s disability support service provider to take you through this
  2. Work out the long-term and short-term goals you’d like to put in place for your child – your key worker can help you with this in your pre-planning meeting
  3. From here, consider how your child can achieve these goals and what supports they need
  4. Be able to communicate the current supports that your child has in place and whether they need any additional supports
  5. Do your research – as well as receiving advice from an organisation like InFocus who provide support for children with disabilities in Ipswich and the greater Brisbane region, do as much of your own research as possible.

If you are looking for disability support services for children in Ipswich or Brisbane including specialist support such as therapy support for children in Brisbane and you would like more help in understanding any aspect of the NDIS please give us a call today and we’ll be happy to help.
