As registered NDIS providers in Brisbane providing services and support for children with complex disabilities in Brisbane, we are already working with families on their NDIS pre-planning. We’re providing family support for children with disabilities in Brisbane as they navigate through the new world of the NDIS.
Last week we published the first blog of a three part series which identifies and explains some key NDIS terms. We hope that you found it helpful. Now, in part two, we've taken a look at terms I to N:
Individual support plan
This document lists a participant’s goals, what services and supports they already receive and what funded supports they can receive through the NDIS.
This is unpaid support provided by family, friends and/or the community. Informal support is not funded by the NDIS.
Information, Linkages and Capacity (ILC) building
This is a part of the NDIS which promotes community inclusion. It is about making sure communities becomes more accessible and inclusive of people with disability.
These are services that provide support to a range of people, not only people with a disability. Mainstream services include education, income support, public housing, employment, public transport, or health services.
National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA)
The agency set up and funded by the Australian Government to run the NDIS.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme. A new way of providing support for Australians with disability, their families and their carers.
National Access Team (NAT)
The NAT work across Australia to review NDIS access applications and decisions relating to a participant’s eligibility for the NDIS.
A person who can act or make decisions on behalf of a participant.
