As registered NDIS service providers in Brisbane providing support for children with complex disabilities in Brisbane, we are already working with families on their NDIS pre-planning and their transition over to the NDIS. We’re here to help and provide the best family support for children with disabilities in Brisbane.
We know from working with families in the Ipswich area, where the roll-out of the NDIS has already commenced, that navigating the new world of the NDIS can seem overwhelming. Even the terminology might seem like another language.
This is part one of a three part blog series which identifies and explains some key NDIS terms. We hope that you find it helpful. Here is A to F:
Access request form
The form that helps the NDIA identify if a person is eligible to become an NDIS participant.
Choice and control
This term is used to describe a participant’s (or carer’s) right to make decisions about what is important to them and to decide how they would like to receive their supports and who from.
Carer statement
Each NDIS plan includes a Carer statement. This outlines the carer's role and their ability to continue to provide care. Carers can provide their own statement to the planner and request any supports they may need as part of their statement.
Disability Care Australia
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is replacing Disability Care Australia.
Early intervention
This is support provided to a person with a disability under seven years of age, also called Early Childhood Intervention (ECEI).
Formal or funded supports
Formal or funded supports are those that are considered reasonable and necessary and are paid for by the NDIS.
Remember, at InFocus because we provide support for children with complex disabilities in Brisbane and as registered NDIS providers in Ipswich and the greater Brisbane region, we’re here to support you and your family with your transition to the NDIS.
